Red, White, and Blue

Hello I am back!

I have missed you all!  I am so sorry for the delay in my posts. Between final exams and traveling around Europe this summer (with limited wifi), I completely lost track of time and my posting schedule. I cannot wait to share with ya’ll where I am traveling and what I am experiencing here in Europe (keep checking back for updates!) but for now in honor of the Fourth of July, here is one of my favorite red, white, and blue looks. It is my go-to business causal outfit because there is absolutely nothing I love more than seersucker and a dress with pockets. I hope you all have a great 4th of July with your family and friends!

College Dorm Packing List

Ultimate

College classes are starting in just a couple of weeks which means college packing has already started! This is such an exciting time in your life! It’s the first time you get to not only move out but also plan your own dorm room! I’m sure you’re stressing about what to bring and how you’ll possibly fit everything you own into a tiny room. Let me just say: RELAX. There are Targets and Walmarts all over the country! If you forget something or something you bought isn’t working it will be okay. While that is true it is also super helpful to have as much as you can already bought and organized. Plus dealing with stores during move in weekend usually has crazy lines. I was very meticulous in my packing last year so I thought I’d share my college dorm packing list. Here’s the one I used and once I got to college I wasn’t missing anything! I hope my list serves you well! Good luck during move in!  Continue reading

#OOTD I’m a SeerSucker for Polo

I’ve found my own summer love. It’s called Polo season.

The last few Sundays I have gone to polo matches at a breath-taking vineyard in Virginia. Last week my best friend and I went. We dusted off our sun hats and put on our seersucker. Despite the 94-degree weather it was gorgeous and we had an awesome time having a picnic and watching the match. We got lost on the way there and our food was mostly humus and cokes but it was a great afternoon before she moved to North Carolina.

Reflection – Reminder of Who God is

Some Truths About (1)

As the stress of the academic semester is coming to a close and the holiday madness is building, we must remember to remind ourselves of who God truly is. He is not just someone to pray to when you need an A on a test or money to buy presents with. He is so much more than that. Don’t forget to speak the truth of who He is into your daily lives. I read these from my journal any time I need peace and encouragement. Here are some from my list. I would love to hear some of yours in the comments.

  1. He is greater than the unknown
  2. He will never fail me
  3. His ways surpass mine
  4. His love is infinite
  5. There is nothing too big for Him
  6. Everything works together for my good
  7. This world will not and cannot change or harm Him
  8. He is faithful
  9. He does not lead me somewhere where He cannot equip me
  10. He loves me as His own chid, even more than my family could
  11. His timing is perfect, nothing too soon or too late
  12. He does not abandon me
  13. He made me for a purpose with goals for me to achieve
  14. He is infinite
  15. He has no fear
  16. He is forgiving and not condemning

Reflection – Moving to College

IMG_0533Riding in a little SUV next to my dad with the backseats stacked to the roof with my belongings that I was going to cram into my new dorm, I was terrified. As we drove through 8 states, its safe to say that I was crying or solemn through at least 7 of them. I couldn’t eat much. I just said good-bye to everything that I had ever known. I watched the beautiful mountains of the east coast that I had climbed on and had to watch over me, fade into the dry flat lands of the west. I had traveled and been gone for months at a time but it was never this permanent. I remember thinking how on earth I’d let the last 18 years fly bye and why no one told me that I would have to leave eventually?! Even though I had always known that I’d be leaving home once the big 1-8 rolled around it never felt real. Even last year when I was 17, I never really processed what that meant.

But now I know what it meant. Continue reading
